As for bcdΔ11 i.e. a deletion of bases 4390-4432 (coordinates of FBrf0047926) in bcd 3' UTR, with addition of a 1.3kb Ecol\lacZ gene fragment to aid detection in in situ hybridizations.

      The locailzation ofbcdΔ11.T:EcollacZR is defective compaered to wild type bcd mRNAlocalization. Faint signal is detected along the anterior margin at earlystages of oogenesis, but acculumate to high levels at later stages. In theearly embryo the distribution of bcdΔ11.T:EcollacZR is similar to wildtype bcd transcript.
