Expression of Btk29A type 1 cDNA is driven by a heat shock promoter.
The split apodeme phenotype seen in Btk29Afic-P males is rescued by expression of Btk29A1.hs during the late third larval instar to pupal stage. The reduced longevity seen in Btk29Afic-P adults is partially alleviated by expression of Btk29A1.hs throughout the third larval instar to pupal stage.
Heat shock during the pupal stages rescues the male genitalia morphology and mating behavior phenotypes of Btk29Afic-P, as well as the reduced adult life span. The most effective period of heat shock for rescue of the longevity phenotype is between the last day of the third larval instar and the first day of pupation.
