Homozygous larvae show transformation of PS12 into PS13 on both the ventral and dorsal sides of the ectoderm. Homozygous adult females also show transformation of PS12 into PS13 in the cuticle. The 7th tergite is nearly absent and resembles the 8th tergite in both size and colour (it is unpigmented). The 7th sternite is absent. Thorn bristles, normally found on the vaginal plate, are occasionally seen in the place of 7th sternite bristles.
