nucleus | embryonic stage 4, with Top177
nurse cell & nucleus, with Top177
nurse cell | ectopic, with Top177
Low levels of Top1hs.2 expression lead to a greatly reduced number of nuclei in early embryos. Nuclei differ in size and morphology. telophase nuclei are found in addition to interphase nuclei. Also nuclei with extra amount of DNA are observed. presumably arising from non-disjunction or fusions after abnormal nuclear divisions.
Top1hs.2 completely rescues the lethality of Top177 on induction by heatshock. When heatshock is carried out for the first 7 days of development up to 100% of mutants are rescued. Heat treatment during days 4 to 7 results in 79% rescue. Even without heatshock some rescue (larvae develop, but with a smaller size) is seen.
