A single copy of P{gpimdba-myc} is tolerated in a pim+ background. However, two copies of P{gpimdba-myc} result in complete lethality (5 out of 8 lines) or severe morphological abnormalities (rough eyes, notched wings, sterility) in rare escapers (3 out of 8 lines). These phenotypes are not caused by transgene insertion position effects.
The CNS of stage 14 poloS132408 homozygous embryos carrying pimg.dba.T:Hsap\MYC contains many abnormal cells with very large polyploid nuclei.
pimg.dba.Tag:MYC fails to rescue pimIL
The addition of pimg.dba.T:Hsap\MYC to pimIL animals does not affect sister chromatid separation, however about 10% of metaphase figures had chromatin bridges. The addition of pimg.dba.T:Hsap\MYC does not rescue the lethality seen in pimIL homozygotes.
