The sequence between the two insertions P{HomingPigeon.FRT}UbxHC188.Scer\FRT and P{HomingPigeon.FRT}UbxHC71-1.Scer\FRT have been deleted by FLPase mediated recombination, and the transposon derivatives excised by Δ2-3 leaving less than 50bp of the transposon. The final deletion is 41kb in size.
Heterozygotes exhibit a dominant phenotype. A slight haltere enlargement with a few tiny black bristles is seen. The rare homozygous escapers show an additional notum on the third thoracic segment, as well as a strong transformation of anterior haltere to wing, of hypopleura to sternopleura, and of the anterior third leg to second.
