      Expression of Tcas\ftzScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 results in complete transformation of the arista and antennal segment 3 into tarsus. All five tarsal segments including the claw are formed. The ectopic tarsus does not have sex combs (characteristic of the T1 leg) or transverse bristles (characteristic of the T3 leg), suggesting it is of T2 leg identity.
