Expression of HIV-1\Taths.PB results in increased mortality at embryonic and larval stages. Moreover, developmental stages are delayed by four days compared with the control strain.
Expression of HIV-1\Taths.PB during oogenesis using heat shock results in 10-13% of eggs having a single, fused dorsal appendage. Oocytes expressing HIV-1\Taths.PB show a decrease in cytoplasmic streaming which terminates immediately or at most 1 hour after HIV-1\Taths.PB expression, in contrast to control oocytes which are not affected by heat shock and which normally terminate in 2 hours and 30 minutes.
