UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of wild-type Atpα with the nucleotide substitution G1177A. This change does not result in any amino acid changes, but results in the formation of an SpeI site at position 1181.

      Animals expressing AtpαScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4nrv1.PS die by the late first larval instar. Animals expressing AtpαScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4nrv2.PS are less sensitive to ouabain than wild-type animals at the highest concentration of ouabain tested (5mM). Adults expressing AtpαScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4nrv2.PS show temporary paralysis or uncontrolled wing beating after brief mechanical stimulation.
