UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a 601bp antisense f fragment followed by a 566bp antisense nec fragment, followed by mub816.i, an 816bp spacer fragment derived from an intron of mub, followed by a 566bp sense nec fragment followed by a 601bp sense f fragment.

      Expression of f::necdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI gives a null f and a null nec mutant phenotype. Expression of f::necdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1, Scer\GAL4VNC.ap, Scer\GAL4Dll-md23 or Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1 does not give a nec mutant phenotype, but does result in a f mutant phenotype in bristles and hairs.
