FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
The 1o-3o fates of the dorsal epidermis are replaced with the 4o fate in mutant embryos.
In drmunspecified homozygous embryos the proventriculus fails to form and the hindgut is short and wide, with duplicated boundary cell rows. The foregut fails to form the keyhole structure, as indicated by marker analysis and the lack of a gap in the visceral musculature over this region of the gut, and so remains as a narrow tube.
The hindgut is wider and shorter than normal in mutant embryos. The small intestine is missing, the cells of the large intestine are columnar (resembling the cells of the immature wild-type hindgut primordium) and the boundary cell rows that run along the length of the large intestine are duplicated. The proventriculus does not fold properly.

The dorsal cuticle phenotype of drmunspecified linunspecified double mutant embryos is the same as that of linunspecified single mutant embryos.
linunspecified; drmunspecified double homozygous embryos have a foregut phenotype identical to those of linunspecified homozygotes (bloated and with an expanded keyhole structure), rather than drmunspecified homozygotes (narrow and lacking a keyhole structure).
linunspecified drmunspecified double mutant embryos have the same mutant hindgut and foregut phenotypes as linunspecified single mutant embryos.
drmunspecified is partially rescued by drmt18.1
