FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Germaria and younger egg chambers flop down by older cysts as opposed to remaining in the apical region of the ovary. Ovarian sheath is defective - and too small to allow the usual straightened positioning of the ovariole. Movement of apical cells of the ovarian sheath over the developing ovarioles is disrupted. The result is that the epithelial sheaths are not adequate to cover the mature adult ovarioles.
