Flies expressing O-fut1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^ptc-559.1 lose tissue from the distal edge of the wing, where the anterior-posterior border intersects the wing margin. These animals also show fusions of the leg segments and occasionally have small eyes. When O-fut1^Scer\UAS.cOa and O-fut1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} are coexpressed under the control of Scer\GAL4^ptc-559.1, their phenotypes are mutually suppressed, resulting in wild-type wings. Flies expressing O-fut1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^sd-SG29.1 show wing loss and thickened vein phenotypes. Flies expressing O-fut1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^ap-md544 show loss of notal microchaetae. Pupal nota show an increase in the number of neurons and a decrease in the number of sheath cells. Wing veins are thickened in flies expressing O-fut1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^ap-md544 but there is no obvious tissue polarity phenotype in the wing.
