Photoreceptors are normally induced in frcR29 mutants, although their direction is irregular. frcR29 flies also exhibited normal bracts on malformed legs.

48% of homozygous embryos derived from homozygous female germline clones die with a lawn of denticle belts, while 32% of the embryos barely produce cuticle. Approximately 30% of the embryos show hypertrophy of the nervous system. Leg joints between the distar femur and proximal tibia and in the tarsal segments are fused, while the claw forms normally in mutant flies. The joint between the arista and the basal cylinder is not formed.
