nurse cell & nucleus | germ-line clone
Homozygous clones can be recovered in the eye. Females containing homozygous germ-line clones show defects in early oogenesis. The mutant egg chambers specify an oocyte, but the karyosome is often stringy or not properly condensed. A defect in nurse cell endoreplication and perdurance of polyteny is sometimes seen.
Selected as: a mutation that results in a failure to produce eggs when females carry homozygous germ-line clones.
