large sensillum basiconicum of antennal segment 3 & olfactory neuron, with Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197
The ab3A neurons in the antenna of flies expressing Or47aScer\UAS.cDa under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a wild-type background have a dose-response curve for ethyl butyrate that is identical to that of wild-type ab3A neurons. The response to pentyl acetate in the mutant ab3A neurons is greater than that of wild-type ab3A neurons.
Dp(2;2)dppd21/Df(2L)dp-79b, Or47aUAS.cDa, Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 has large sensillum basiconicum of antennal segment 3 & olfactory neuron phenotype
When Or47aScer\UAS.cDa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a "Δhalo" background (in which Df(2L)dp-79b and Dp(2;2)dppd21 are recombined onto the same chromosome to create a synthetic deficiency), the olfactory receptor neurons which neighbour an ab3B cell in large basiconic sensilla of the antenna have a response pattern to odours which is similar to that of an ab5B neuron (these cells normally have the characteristic of an ab3A neuron). These neurons still target the DM2 glomerulus (the wild-type target for ab3A neurons).
When Or47aScer\UAS.cDa is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 background, the olfactory receptor neurons which neighbour an ab3B cell in large basiconic sensilla of the antenna have a response pattern to odours which is similar to that of an ab5B neuron (these cells normally have the characteristic of an ab3A neuron).
