The first three exons of Oamb are deleted in this mutant. The K3 and AS isoforms of Oamb are disrupted in this mutant.

      Oamb584 mutants exhibit normal numbers of synaptopods and type II boutons, with a wild-type reaction to the addition of octopamine.

      Oamb584 mutants exhibit an increase in sleep, which manifests as longer sleep bouts at night and a greater number of sleep bouts during the day.

      Homozygous adults have normal gross external morphology. Homozygous females produce very few or no eggs; no females produce more than 10 eggs and the average number of progeny from females is 2.7 +/- 0.5. Those eggs that are laid have an overall percentage hatching rate that is comparable with controls. The rate of ovulation of homozygous females is dramatically lower than that of control females.
