The formation of additional R7 cells seen in rl^Sem flies is almost completely suppressed by the expression of Mkp3^hs.sev. The Mkp3^hs.sev rough eye phenotype is enhanced by rl^10a/+. Co-expression of Mkp3^hs.sev almost completely suppresses the extra R7 photoreceptor cell phenotype seen in flies expressing sev^{S11.T:Hsap\MYC}.
