Embryos derived from females carrying homozygous germ line clones have head involution defects and variable dorsal closure defects and the embryos are often twisted.
Embryos derived from females carrying homozygous germ line clones have defects in head involution and dorsal closure. This phenotype is purely a maternal effect and cannot be rescued zygotically. Rare surviving homozygous females produce embryos with the same phenotype as those derived from females carrying homozygous germ line clones.
