The eye discs of rnoScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC; Scer\GAL4GMR.PF larvae and pupae have normal numbers of photoreceptors and cone cells per ommatidium, and only a small increase in pigment cells (average 2.1 per ommatidium, compared to 2.0 in wild-type). The most severe defect is an absence of interommatidial bristles at mid-pupal stages. In contrast, adults of this genotype have a very severe eye phenotype, completely lacking rhabdomeres or a hexagonal pigment cell lattice. The retina is instead populated with vacuoles and scattered pigment granules. The eye discs of rnoScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC; Scer\GAL4hs.2sev larvae and pupae appear normal, but adult eyes have a degenerated interommatidial lattice.
