Embryos resulting from oosyGM73 germ-line clones or laid by oosyGM73/oosyGM47 mothers have reduced numbers of germ cells compared to wild-type embryos. At cleavage stages, axial expansion and nuclear migration to the cortex are disrupted resulting in gaps in nuclear density. The synchrony of the divisions is disturbed in these embryos at cleavage stages and dividing nuclei are often dissociated from their centrosomes and show frequent chromosome loss.
