FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.

synaptonemal complex & presumptive oocyte & germarium region 2a
Maker analysis suggests that the early stages of oocyte take place in miounspecified mutant germaria, although they are delayed and expression of oocyte markers is weaker than in wild-type and only detectable until around stage 2 of oogenesis. Relative to wild type, miounspecified mutant germaria contain approximately twice as many cysts in region 2a, in which the presumptive oocyte has the broken synaptonemal complex structure suggestive of late-zygotene or early-pachytene.
mioScer\UAS.P\T.cIa; Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 completely rescues the block in oogenesis and the loss of fertility seen in mio2 homozygous females.
