When Or59bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC is driven by Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 (Δhalo) flies, mutant animals exhibit a strong response to exposure to ethyl acetate or 2,3-butanedione in the ab3A neuron. A strong response is not seen in response to exposure to pentyl acetate, ethyl butyrate, methyl salicylate, 1-hexanol, 1-octen-3-ol, E2-hexanal, 2-heptanone or geranyl acetate. When Or59bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC is driven by Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 (Δhalo) flies, the spontaneous firing rate of the ab3A neuron is seen to be similar to the ab2A neuron, the neuron that normally expresses Or59b. Inhibitory responses for the mutant ab3A neuron appear to be those expected for neurons expressing Or59b.
