Detailed Description

The response of the pb1 olfactory receptor neurons to isoamylacetate, 2-heptanone and 2-butanone is abolished in mutant flies.

Or42af04305 mutants show a reduced response at high concentrations but an approximately normal response at low concentrations of ethyl acetate. The response declines and becomes repellent as the concentration increases.

Or42af04305 mutants respond as wild-types to 2-heptanone and propyl acetate.

Notes on Origin
Discoverer

Separable from: Ab(3)Δ85.

The original Or42af04305 stock contained a separate mutation, "Δ85" on the third chromosome that specifically affects the pb2A and pb3B neurons. The Δ85 mutation most likely affects the genes Or85e and Or85d.
