Flies expressing Or33bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 background (called Δhalo) show a large increase in electrophysiological response to either 2-ethylpyrazine or 2-methylpyrazine.
Flies expressing Or33bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 yield a supersustained response to 2,6-dimethylpyrazine, 2,3-dimethylpyrazine, 2,5-dimethylpyrazine, 2,3,5,6-tetramethylpyrazine, 2-methylpyrazine, 2-ethylpyrazine, 2-ethyl-5(6)-methylpyrazine and to 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine while 2-chloropyrazine elicits a much shorter response. Supersustained responses appear to decay initially with a very rapid decrease in frequency, followed by a gradual decay occuring over minutes.
Delivery of a 10[-4] dilution of 2,3,5-trimethylpyrazine or 2-ethyl-5(6)-methylpyrazine elicits a supersustained response in flies expressing Or33bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in a Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 background (called Δhalo).
When Or33bScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC is driven by Scer\GAL4Or22a.8197 in Df(2L)dp-79b/Dp(2;2)dppd21 (Δhalo) flies, mutant animals do not exhibit a strong response to exposure to ethyl acetate, pentyl acetate, ethyl butyrate, methyl salicylate, 1-hexanol, 1-octen-3-ol, E2-hexanal,2,3-butanedione, 2-heptanone or geranyl acetate in the ab3A neuron.
