Between 40% and 85% of Heyf06656/Df(2R)ED1735 and Heyf06656/Df(2R)Exel6055 mutants hatch, but most die during the first instar stage. The hatched larvae are less active than their wild-type siblings, and a small number even goes through the first larval moult before dying. No obvious cuticular defects are detected in the dead embryos and larvae.
