Mutant flies show hypersensitivity to halothane when assayed for the ability of anesthetics to interfere with reactive climbing. Mutant flies elute more slowly than control flies in an inebriometer test of postural control in response to halothane but not to enflurane.

Mutants have a cylindrically shaped abdomen and hesitant walking mode.
