Eato^f02254 homozygous as well as Eato^f02254/Df(2L)BSC812 and Eato^f02254/Eato^MI14571 mutant stage 14 egg chambers show nurse cell clearance defect and contain on average 2-3, 8 and 6 persistent nurse cell nuclei, respectively, while in wild-type egg chambers all the germ-line derived nurse cells have undergone programmed cell death and been cleared by this stage.
