Mutant larvae appear normal, undergo normal pupation and develop into adults.
Mutant flies have a reduced life span, with all flies dead by 35-40 days after eclosion compared to a life span of 80-90 days in controls, with fertility of approximately 60% that of controls.
Spermatids look morphologically normal.
Adult mutant flies show strong bang sensitivity, severely reduced spontaneous motor activity and impaired response in the optomotor test.
