      Embryos derived from homozygous female germ-line clones have segmentation defects, with a range of patterning defects consistent with aberrant anteroposterior segmental patterning. 10% of the embryos have fusions of adjacent ventral denticle belts (pair-rule defect) and 80% have little or no cuticle. Homozygous embryos (zygotically mutant) have normal segmentation.
