Description

Imprecise excision of the P{lArB} element, resulting in a 793bp deletion of genomic sequences downstream of the site of the insertion. This removes the first untranslated exon of the non-muscle isoform of Actn but leaves the usp gene (which is within an intron of Actn) intact.

Actn^Δ208/Actn^Δ233 females have apparently normal fecundity and the overall morphology of the ovaries is normal. There are no apparent morphological defects in eggs derived from these females.

Ring canal morphology in Actn^Δ208/Actn^Δ233 ; kel^DE1/kel^DE1 double mutant females is the same as in kel^DE1 single mutants. Ring canal morphology in Actn^Δ208/Actn^Δ233 ; cher^sko/cher^sko double mutant females is the same as in cher^sko single mutants. The short actin bundles seen in the egg chambers of sn^X2 single mutants are also seen in Actn^Δ233 sn^X2/Actn^Δ233 sn^X2 double mutant egg chambers. The collapsed ring canals and lack of actin bundles observed in qua¹ single mutant egg chambers are also seen in Actn^Δ208/Actn^Δ233 ; qua¹/qua¹ double mutant egg chambers.
