At room temperature, hemizygous females show a number of egg chamber defects; 31% of egg chambers degrade between stages 3 and 10, 19% have a division defect (the egg chambers contain less than 16 germ cells), 20% fail to specify an oocyte, and 16% have defects in both germ cell number and oocyte specification. Some twin^ry5/twin^S3 egg chambers have an oocyte at the centre, rather than at the posterior of the egg chambers. Some twin^ry3/twin^ry5 egg chambers contain cells with more than four ring canals, indicating that the cells have divided more than four times.
