h^eve.st2.h3' first instar larval cuticles exhibit ventral loss of T2 or complete loss of T2. However, the penetrance and expressivity of this phenotype varies dramatically with between different insertion lines. Most insertion lines exhibit less than 50% penetrance of ventral T2 loss and only very low penetrance of complete T2 loss, but those with the highest levels of h transcript expression (e.g. P{eve.S2(-FRT)h}D) exhibit almost 100% penetrance of T2 phenotypes, with over 80% completely lacking T2.
