Homozygotes show increased spontaneous melanization, detected as discrete dark spots through the cuticle. Otherwise, they display no gross morphological or behavioural defects.

Spn27Ae02539 flies exhibit reduced ethanol-induced hyperactivity during the first ethanol exposure, compared to controls, whereas locomotor activity upon repeated ethanol exposure, ethanol sedation sensitivity, and ethanol sedation tolerance is not affected.
