        When homozygous clones are induced in females using a technique that ensures that all eggs produced by these females are derived from homozygous germline clones and 76% of the follicles also carry homozygous somatic clones, then 29% of the cuticles of the resulting embryos have a dorsalised phenotype, including 4% that have a completely dorsalised phenotype.

        Embryos derived from females containing homozygous germline clones (but having no mutant clones in the follicle cells) do not show disruptions in the dorsal-ventral patterning of the cuticle.

        Paps2/+ flies exhibit increased sensitivity to the lethal affects of sodium chlorate. Females carrying Paps2 ventral follicle cell clones do not produce dorsalized embryos. In contrast to Paps2/+ embryos, there are no detectable sulfated glycans in the salivary glands of Paps2 embryos.
