Induction of EcRdsRNA.A.Scer\UAS, under the control of either Scer\GAL4how-24B or Scer\GAL4NP5169 (and Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B, placed at the restrictive temperature of 29oC at the onset of metamorphosis) dramatically inhibits heart remodelling. The cardiac tube retains its larval morphology, with the characteristic division into aorta in segments A1 to A4 and heart in segments A5 to A7, with A5 myofibrils retaining their larval circular orientation. Furthermore, segment A5 innervations are prevented following EcRdsRNA.A.Scer\UAS induction, while segments A6 and A7 are not eliminated and ventral imaginal muscles do not form.
When EcRdsRNA.A.Scer\UAS is driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32, animals die as pharate adults.
