Description

A 869bp fragment from the Ubx coding region is cloned twice in an inverted orientation downstream of UASt regulatory sequences. An exogenous sequence from an Ecol\lacZ gene was cloned in between the inverted repeats.

      Df(3R)Ubx109 flies expressing UbxdsRNA.IR.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4ptc-559.1 which are transferred from 17oC to 29oC at the second or early third larval instar (this temperature shift inactivates the temperature-sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele which these animals also carry) have anterior haltere tissue that is larger than the anterior compartment of a wild-type haltere.
