FlyBase curator comment: this entry is used to capture phenotypic information when the particular allele (or allele combination) used by the author could not be determined but the context of the experiment suggests that the phenotype being described is some kind of loss of function.
Vha100-1unspecified homozygous animals develop into morphologically normal L1 larvae, but fail to hatch. When dissected out of the egg case, they do not exhibit contraction waves that progress from anterior to posterior but rather show uncoordinated twitching. These dissected out larvae live for around 24-48 hours.
Lethality due to Vha100-1unspecified/Vha100-1unspecified is rescued by Vha100-1Scer\UAS.cHa; Scer\GAL4elav-C155. The resulting flies are viable and fertile, with no obvious behavioral defects.
