Flies containing homozygous eyes (induced using the eyFLP method) have a glossy-eye phenotype.

Homozygous eye discs (induced by the eyFLP method) fail to incorporate BrdU properly, but have an essentially normal patterning of neuronal clusters emerging from the morphogenetic furrow (as assayed by elav expression).
