UAS sequences drive a hairpin loop consisting of an inverted repeat of 705bp from the coding region of stan, separated by an intronic spacer. The stan coding region corresponds to a portion of the intracellular domain.

      Expression of standsRNA.intra.Scer\UAS and standsRNA.extra.Scer\UAS in lamina target neuron clones, under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI, results in R8 axon guidance defects. R8 axons display thickened terminals and fasciculate with R7 and R8 axons in adjacent medulla neuropil columns.
