Expression of Or85eScer\UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4Or22a.8010 in a "Δab3A" background (which is a synthetic deletion created using Df(2L)dp-79b and Dp(2;2)dppd21 combined on to the same chromosome, and in which Or22a and Or22b is deleted, resulting in antennal olfactory receptor neuron ab3A losing its odorant response - see FBrf0173068) confers a strong response to fenchone as well as some other odorants. Coexpression of both Or85eScer\UAS.cGa and Or33cScer\UAS.cDa in this background results in odor-response properties that are similar, although not identical, to those resulting from expression of Or85eScer\UAS.cGa alone, when tested with a limited number of odor stimuli.
