      Expression of spiRNAi.Scer\UAS in primordial gene cells, under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 results in a significant increase in primordial germ cell numbers, whereas expression in the somatic cells, under the control of Scer\GAL4C587 has no effect. Reducing spi production in the primordial germ cells (spiRNAi.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16) results in reduced intermingled somatic cell numbers.
