UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat of a SPE DNA fragment, which codes for amino acids 15-193. The sense and antisense SPE fragments are separated by the mub816.i intronic spacer.

      Flies that express SPEdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cJa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 are more susceptible to the fungus B. bassiana and the gram positive bacterium E. faecalis compared to wild-type flies, However, the response to the gram negative bacterium E. carotovora carotovora is not different from wild type.
