Expression of IRSp53GD16917 under the control of Scer\GAL4kirre.PU (in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency) results in fusion defects in myotubes, with a reduction in the number of small nuclei originating from fusing myoblasts, and defective splitting of muscle fibers; and myotubes with significantly shorter filopodia at 18-20 hrs APF, but filopodia density remains unchanged, as compared to wild type.
