UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of Gld2GD6221 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.bam or Scer\GAL4Tub.PU results in testes and seminal vesicles being devoid of mature sperm; fully elongated spermatogenic cysts contain syncytial spermatids, but do not contain bundled nuclei, assembled individualization complexes or basal bodies; elongated spermatids have bulges of material that accumulate along their tails. Expression of Gld2GD6221 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.bam or Scer\GAL4Tub.PU results in less condensed nuclei with a more scattered distribution within the spermatocyst even at the earliest stages of spermatocyst elongation in the pupa, without any alteration in the number of nuclei, compared to controls.
Adults expressing Gld2GD6221 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
