Flies in which the endogenous Or67d receptors in the olfactory receptor neurons have been replaced by the B.mori Bmor\OR-1 receptor (by using flies expressing Bmor\OR-1Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Or67d-GAL4-1 in a Or67dGAL4-1 background) show responses to the B.mori bombykol pheromone that are similar to the responses shown by wild-type flies in response to the D.melanogaster cVA ([Z]-11-octadecenyl acetate) pheromone (which normally activates Or67d); in these mutant flies the T1 trichoid sensilla show a rapid firing response to bombykol and males show suppression of courtship of virgin wild-type females that have been treated with bombykol.
