Insertion into the 5' UTR of hppy.
Wing size is reduced when hppyEP-704 is expressed using Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62. In general, the pattern of veins and sensory organs remains normal.
Co-expression of hppyGD12129 suppresses the small wing phenotype of hppyEP-704, Scer\GAL4nub-AC-62 flies.
hppyEP-704 homozygotes are viable and exhibit smaller than wild type wings (a reduction of 12%) owing to a weak reduction in cell size. There is a developmental delay of ~2 days during larval stages.
The small wing phenotype of hppyEP-704flies is significantly rescued when larvae are raised in medium with a high level of protein in relation to sugars, but is made much worse when larvae are starved for proteins.
Selected as: a P{GSV1} insertion line that when expressed using Scer\GAL4dpp.3KK results in a mutant phenotype in the wing.
