Detailed Description

PxtEY03052/PxtEY03052 nurse cells have disperse nucleoli during oogenesis stages 8 and 9, and greatly enlarged and fragmented nucleoli lacking interconnected tubules at stage 10. PxtEY03052/+ heterozygotes display an enlarged and fragmented nucleolus and only a mild decrease in the occurrence of interconnected tubules. The severity of the phenotype in both homozygotes and heterozygotes is greater at oogenesis stage 10B compared to 10A, and in anterior nurse cells.

The fertility of homozygous pxtEY03052 females drops with age more rapidly than normal.

Some pxtEY03052 mutant follicles show defects in nurse cell dumping.

In both homozygotes and trans-heterozygotes of pxtf01000 and pxt[EY03052], more than 50% of stage 9-10 border cell clusters do not complete migration completely.
