Homozygous clones induced at the late blastoderm/early gastrulation stage and then examined in the third larval instar tracheal system show defects compared to wild-type clones; bends are seen in the fusion cells of the dorsal trunk if they are clonal, no clonal cells are seen in terminal branches and no clonal cells are seen in other fusion cells.
