Imprecise excision of the insertion in SnooSH1402, resulting in a 2.2kb deletion removing Snoo sequences.
Homozygous flies are viable and produce viable progeny, although there is a 50% reduction in viability compared to wild type. The number of fertilised eggs is significantly decreased (65%) compared to controls (97%). Eggs laid by homozygous females show mild, but consistent, patterning defects of the dorsal chorion structures; the operculum is slightly enlarged and the dorsal appendages are shifted towards the posterior and are wider apart and shorter than in wild-type eggs.
Eggs laid by Snoo174 ; Dadsl double homozygous females have dorsal appendages that are thicker than those of Snoo174 single mutants and have highly irregular ends. The operculum is enlarged.
Eggs laid by brkM68/+ ; Snoo174/Snoo174 females are shorter in length and have a significantly larger operculum than normal. The dorsal appendages are stout and massively thick at their ends.
